The Sisters Rosensweig

Meet The Cast & Crew

The cast and crew of our first major production of the year includes both FCP veterans and newcomers, just like we like it.

Jackie Oliveri joins the cast as American expatriate banker Sara Rosensweig Goode, living in London, whose sisters have come to celebrate her 54th birthday. Jackie, who comes to us from Portland, has appeared in several FCP productions, starting with Sylvia in 2003 as Kate. Also with FCP, Jackie played Clairee in Steel Magnolias , Wilma in The Perfect Party, and, most recently, Minerva in A Memo From Jupiter. Portland Players audiences may remember her as Mickey in Odd Couple, The Female Version or the baroness in The Sound Of Music. She is also a member of the cast of Purple Breasts with Two Lights Theatre Ensemble, where she plays Zoe's mother.

Julia Langham will play Pfeni Rosensweig, Sara's 40-year-old sister, a world traveler, photojournalist and author. Like Jackie, Julia is no stranger to the FCP stage, and she too got her start with FCP in Sylvia (she played Sylvia). She also appeared in FCP's The Perfect Party, as Lois the New York society reporter. Julia's vast stage experience includes Ophelia in Hamlet at the Hangar Theater in Ithaca NY and roles in The Seagull at St. Marks Theatre in NYC, I Read About My Death in Vogue Magazine at the Ninth St Theatre in NYC and Old Times at the Independent Theatre Company, also in NYC. Julia is an Alexander technique instructor here in Freeport.

Newcomer Andrea Myles-Hunkin (from North Yarmouth) will play Gorgeous Teitelbaum, 46, Sara's sister, a housewife and radio talk-show host. Andrea tells us her last stage work was in college, but she teaches large groups of people (1000!) several times a year, which we know takes some serious stage presence.

The youngest actress in our cast is Rebecca Shor, playing Tess Goode, 17, Sara's daughter. Tess is a bit of a free spirit and activist. Rebecca, who lives in Lewiston, is new to FCP but is a stage veteran. She has appeared in three plays at Bates College, and most recently played Lindsey in Sister Calling My Name at Lewiston's King's Bridge Theater.

George Sheckart returns to the FCP stage as Nicholas Pym, 58, a stuffy British banker and Sara's sometime lover. George is a regular in FCP productions. He, too, appeared in Sylvia, as Greg (sort of a cast reunion we have going here!). More recently, George played Jupiter in A Memo From Jupiter at our Valentine's dinner theater event last year. Other roles for George include, various characters in Radio (FCP 2004), Schemkoff in Fame, The Musical, Jake in Jake's Women, Van Helsing in Dracula, and Saunders in Lend Me A Tenor. George lives in Yarmouth.

Steve Dodge, who lives in North Yarmouth, will play Geoffrey Duncan, 40, a bisexual theater and movie director and Pfeni's sometime lover. Although he is new to FCP, Steve is a theater veteran. Most recently, Steve performed with Vermont-based Firefly Productions, which specializes in original works. He was part of a Firefly production that went to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival this past August. Steve also has nearly 20 years of radio and television experience.

Freeport's own Kevin Jones will play Mervyn Kant, 58, a New York furrier, supplier to Geoffrey's shows. We don't have the details (yet), but Kevin reports that he has performed in about 100 plays, including about 20 professional productions.

Director Adam Klein comes to us from The Public Theater in Lewsiton, where he is the technical director. His technical expertise has been invaluable to us as we transform the Community Center main hall into a theater. Before you see the results of his work directing the cast, you wil see his set and lighting designs, which are essential to bring you into the world of Sara Goode, bank executive.

Our stage manager is also new to Freeport Community Players. Jaclyn Marshall recently moved to Maine from Los Angeles, where she spent two years as a production designer, set decorator, and on-set dresser. Before that she worked in St. Louis as production manager for That Uppity Theatre Co., assistant director for Hot House Theatre Co. (Equity), and stage manager for Barfly Theatre Co., among others. She is well known to Waynflete students and audiences, where she is an after-school teacher and scenic artist in the theater department.

Assisting Adam with the infrastructure & set construction, set dressing, and lighting installation for this show are FCP's dream team: Dorothy Glendinning (set design & dressing), David Glendinning (set construction), Ken Carew (lighting technician), and John Albright (lighting technician). Between them, these folks have far too many years of experience to count. Dorothy's designs and David's carpentry have been amazing Freeport audiences for as long as FCP has been in existence (we will not soon forget the Man of La Mancha dungeon with its massive descending staircase). Ken and John's work has been less heralded, but no less important. The now famous power outage of August 2006 notwithstanding, our shows are always better with the lighting and audio they install and then manage from the tech booth. Please pay attention to the men behind the curtain!

Costumes for this show are supervised by Alicia Harding (Radio III, Antigone, Guys & Dolls), assisted by Martha Putnam.

And last but not least, Elizabeth Guffey takes on the role of producer. Past producing credits for FCP include Light Up The Night, Radios I-III, Chapter Two and Who Pushed Humpty Dumpty. Seventh time's the charm!
