Freeport Players is looking for scripts to be included in the 2010 edition of the WFCP Home Time Radio Hour, scheduled for performance at Freeport Performing Arts Center in early December. This annual fundraiser pairs music of the 30s-50s with original sketches and jingles written in the style of the Golden Age of Radio.

Submissions must meet the following criteria:

• Total runtime must not exceed 5 minutes. We will be looking for a range of scripts from 1-5 minutes.
• Script must be original, written by the submitting playwright(s).
• Script must be in the style of a classic radio sketch. Past genres have included detective stories, hospital dramas, sci fi, westerns, and "vaudeville" a la Abbott & Costello. Comedy is strongly preferred. Script should sound as if it was written in the 30s, 40s, or 50s, rather than a modern spoof of the style.
• Scripts should make sense without visual aids. (Remember, "back in the day" these shows were listened to, not watched.) Playwrights are encouraged to include notes about sound effects to set the scene and enhance the story.
• Playwright agrees to have their script workshopped and modified by FCP's creative team if it is selected for possible inclusion in the show. (Playwrights may be invited to be part of that team.)
• FCP will retain all publishing rights to the finished script if it is included in the WFCP Home Time Radio Hour. Submitting playwright will be given a writer credit.
• Although completed scripts are terrific, we will accept an earlier draft if it clearly conveys the characters, plot, and style intended for the final piece.
• All submissions must be received by May 31, 2010.
